Tyson Gay pulled out of the Van Damme Memorial track meet in Brussels, Belgium, yesterday, leaving
Asafa Powell as the main challenger to
Usain Bolt, the Olympic triple gold medalist.
Gay, recovering from a hamstring injury, said the prospect of running in the cold weather was too risky.
Bolt holds the world record in the 100 meters at 9.69 seconds. Powell, who finished fifth in the Beijing Games, matched the second-fastest time ever of 9.72 on Tuesday.

Darrell Arthur that he ordered their expulsion from the league's rookie transition program on Wednesday, ESPN the Magazine reported yesterday.

Samuel Peter will fight at the '02 World Arena in Berlin on Oct. 11 for the World Boxing Council belt that Klitschko lost in 2005 after withdrawing from a title bout because of a torn right-knee ligament.
