Eagles-Rams Scouting Report

Recent history: The Eagles won the last meeting, on Dec. 18, 2005 in St. Louis, 17-16. The Rams lead the series, 17-19-1.

OFFENSE

Eagles

358.1 yards per game (6th)

Rams

297.5 yards per game (24th)

Quarterback

Eagles

At 31, Donovan McNabb still is one of the league's top five or six quarterbacks. The key for him is staying healthy. He's missed 17 of the Eagles' last 41 games. He finished strong last season after his mobility returned, and had a quietly impressive preseason.

Rams

Marc Bulger is a smart, accurate quarterback who can pick a defense apart when he has time, something he didn't have last season. Both his passer rating and interception percentage were the worst of his career. He didn't look good in the preseason, with a 61.7 passer rating.

Pick: Eagles

Running back

Eagles

The Eagles didn't put Brian Westbrook and Lorenzo Booker on the field together in the preseason, but look for that pairing semiregularly starting Sunday, with one or both flexed out wide in two-wide receiver sets to try to get a coverage mismatch against a safety or linebacker.

Rams

Steven Jackson has fullback size and power to go with running-back speed. He's not in game shape yet after holding out 27 days and missing the entire preseason, which could keep his touches down. Antonio Pittman and Brian Leonard will spell him.

Pick: Eagles

Receiver
