Strawberry Mansion's White may choose La Salle for basketball, sources say

The recruiting battle for Devon White, a 6-8, 220-pound basketball center at Strawberry Mansion High, is about to end and - surprise, surprise - a Philly school might win after all.

In mid-April, White said he almost certainly would not attend Drexel, the early leader, and was looking hard at leaving town for Arkansas State, Niagara, Nebraska or Robert Morris.

But now it appears, according to insiders, that La Salle has a strong chance to sign him.

We'll likely know tomorrow, as it's expected White will convene a news conference at Mansion. It'll be the Knights' second this school year. In the fall, wing guard Dwayne Davis announced his commitment to Morehead. *
