What Andy said, what Andy meant

ON THE EMERGENCE OF THE YOUNG LINEBACKERS:

What he said: "It's a great situation to have at linebacker, where that hasn't necessarily been our strongest spot in the past. All of a sudden, it's showing up as a strong spot as we finish the season, and we have them all back and that's a great thing."

What he meant: "Joe Banner thinks we might have enough leverage now to get Takeo [Spikes] to take a pay cut."

ON THEIR POOR DRAFTING RECORD WITH LINEBACKERS BEFORE '06:

What he said: Things just didn't work out for guys that had been drafted in the past. I can't say we haven't put a little emphasis on our evaluation process there. I'm not going to get into all the things we've done. But we've tried to learn from our mistakes the best we could."

What he meant: "Tom Heckert finally convinced me that drafting linebackers with a Magic Eight Ball probably wasn't such a good idea."

ON DONOVAN MCNABB:

What he said: "He's gone through some ups and downs and been under the microscope, to say the least. It's a microscope with a large lens."

What he meant: "Donovan's undergone more scrutiny this season than Jennifer Love Hewitt's butt."

ON WIDE RECEIVER KEVIN CURTIS, WHO SURPASSED 1,000 RECEIVING YARDS SUNDAY:

What he said: "He's done what I thought he could do, given the opportunity. I think we all know he's fast. He's good in and out of his breaks. That normally lends itself to being a good receiver."

What he meant: "Not bad for one of our receivers, huh?"

ON MATCHING UP AGAINST THE COWBOYS:

What he said: "My feeling right now is that when we're healthy, we can match up against anybody."

What he meant: "We're hoping the more time Tony Romo spends around Jessica Simpson, the dumber he'll get. He's already having trouble distinguishing chicken from tuna fish."
