Top seeds Temple and Massachusetts advanced to the semifinals in the men's and women's varsity heavyweight eight at the Dad Vail Regatta yesterday
Temple men won their opening heat in 6 minutes, 5.94 seconds, easily outdistancing Lehigh (6:14.26).
Second-seeded Marietta won its heat in 6:06.61, ahead of Saint Joseph's (6:09.78). La Salle and Delaware also advanced. In the women's competiton, third-seeded Saint Joseph's (6:51.97) moved on, as did the Drexel varsity four.
The Dad Vail is in its 69th year and features more than 3,500 rowers from 120 schools from the United States and Canada. *
