Venue switch for Rams as Magee nears mark

With Philadelphia University's Herb Magee on the verge of a coaching milestone, the Rams have switched venues and times for their men's basketball game tomorrow with Wilmington College.

Originally scheduled for 8 p.m. at Wilmington, the game will be played at 7 p.m. at Philadelphia University's Athletic and Recreation Center.

The reason for the switch is to accommodate the large crowd expected for a potential record-breaking win by Magee. With 828 victories, he is tied with the late Clarence "Big House" Gaines of Winston-Salem State for the most wins in NCAA Division II history.

Wilmington's gymnasium seats fewer than 400; the capacity at Philadelphia University's facility is 1,266.

In exchange for moving the game, the Rams will play Wilmington on the road twice next season.

"We thought because of the size of our gym, we didn't know if we could handle the size of the media and the crowd," Wilmington athletic director Frank Aiello said. "We thought this would be in the best interest of both schools."

Philadelphia University is 15-5. Wilmington is 0-20, including a 78-49 loss to the Rams earlier this season.
