"I've been considering whether I'll race all the races and where my goals are," he said before qualifying for the slalom championships by finishing 25th last night in Schladming, Austria. "I might have to think about skipping the downhill. The downhill there last year was what beat up my knee pretty bad."

* Welterweight champion Antonio Margarito will fight two-time world champion Miguel Cotto on June 9 at Madison Square Garden.

* Minnesota high school wrestling programs were suspended because of a widespread herpes outbreak. The Minnesota State High School League banned competitions and direct contact between wrestlers in practice until Feb. 6 after 24 cases of herpes gladiatorum were reported by 10 teams.

* China's Luo Xuejuan, who won the 100-meter breastroke in 2004, is retiring with what officials called heart problems.
