Did 76ers center Andrew Bynum cause further damage - including a new bone bruise and cartilage damage – to his knees while bowling?
According to a report on ESPN.com, this might be the case. Citing multiple sources, ESPN.com reported that Bynum, who has yet to play for the Sixers, may have caused himself further damage while bowling.
There are several activities that are prohibited in standard NBA player contracts, but bowling is not one of them. Bynum is known to enjoy bowling, ESPN.com reported.
On Friday, Bynum reported that he experienced a setback in his recovery. Already hampered by a bruised bone in his right knee, Bynum said that he has also suffered a similar injury in his left knee. Bynum is scheduled to begin basketball related activities in early Dec.

- Actually someone on these boards a few weeks ago noted that AB bowls in Manayunk and jokingly indirectly hinted there could be a problem. I really doubt he hurt himself bowling, or at least I hope he can at least bowl (almost like walking IMO) without suffering catastrophic knee damage. Most 70 year olds can. If a 25 year old cannot then search on the UFA rolls needs to privately begin NOW!

- I do think the cartiledge issue is because of the platelet therapy. The other is the Sixers longstanding tradition of being enamored with guys who have a history of injury - Ruland, Webber, Brand, Hinson, Bynum.......all in effort to man the post. Living in Florida I get to watch Magic games and have enjoyed seeing Vucevic be a 12-10 guy - certainly something we could have used in the form of an un-injured 21 year old.— 7mel11

- I have no clue how one can bruise a bone in the knee by bowling. But he did, all the while supposedly rehabbing his other bone-bruised knee. With that out of the way there are issues here besides this bone bruised player. One is that the team did not or could not have properly medically evaluated this player before joining that trade dance. Could be they saw visions of an elite center in their uniform and lost all control and common sense of their own history going back to the Ruland fiasco. The second thing is that this team does a poor job developing players. Here, they spend time in some kind of figurative coaches doghouse. It's only when they are traded for the next big thing do we learn how that traded player is blossoming into a fine, young NBA player on the rise. Only here can we take the 2nd highest rated college basketball player in the draft and watch the player become an enigma before our eyes.
Under Pat Williams, Jack McMahon and Billy Cunningham, this team drafted real players with polish and skill. They traded for need; look what the great Bobby Jones brought to that team. Williams was shrewd enough to steal a first round draft picks using his little used bench guys (Terry Catledge). Now, flash forward to 2012 and we have a team that spends more time determining who the next mascot is going to roam the seating areas rather then in proper player development. This team has a sorry history of spending big on washed up NBA players and it's deja vu and Ground Hog Day all over again! I kind of wonder if the ownership and front office all have a collective brain bruise!— DelawareRiverRat - Gee Bynum's hurt AGAIN! Is it the curse of Philadelphia sports teams that they can't draft, can't evaluate talent and make bad free agent signings or is it that we just have BAD MANAGEMENT?
