Lehigh Valley IronPigs – Triple A
The IronPigs gave up seven runs in the 10th inning to lose to the Buffalo Bisons, 11-4, at Coca-Cola Park in Allentown, Pa.
Right-handed starter David Buchanan gave up three runs (two earned) on six hits, a walk and a hit batsman while striking out six in six innings.
Buchanan was in line for a victory due to a three-run fifth inning that gave the IronPigs a 4-3 lead. Right fielder Cam Perkins hit an RBI double and catcher Sebastian Valle added a two-RBI double in the frame.
But left-handed closer Cesar Jimenez blew the save in the ninth as he surrendered an unearned run.
In the 10th, relievers Jeremy Horst and B.J. Rosenberg combined to give up seven runs on five hits and three walks to put the game out of reach.
First baseman Darin Ruf (3-for-4 with a run scored and a strikeout) had three of the IronPigs' 10 hits.
The IronPigs (49-54) will send recently-signed southpaw Jo-Jo Reyes to the mound to make his debut with the team as the series continues Tuesday.
Reading Fightin Phils – Double A
The Fightin Phils were edged by the Erie SeaWolves, 5-4, at Jerry Uht Park in Erie, Pa.
Left-handed starter Hoby Milner was pounded for four runs on 10 hits and two walks in just 3 2/3 innings, but settled for a no-decision.
The offense spared Milner a loss as every hitter recorded a hit, led by third baseman Carlos Alonso (2-for-4 with a double).
First baseman Jake Fox blasted his team-leading 11th home run, a two-run shot in the first, in just his 35th game with the team.
Tied at four apiece in the seventh, a throwing error by Fox led to the game-winning run.
Righty Chris Bootcheck (1-2, 7.07 ERA) is slated to start for the Fightin Phils (41-58) as the series continues on Tuesday.
Clearwater Threshers – Class A-Advanced
The Threshers held on to beat the Charlotte Stone Crabs, 4-3, at Bright House Field in Clearwater, Fla.
The offense was held to four hits, but made the most of them.
Designated hitter Art Charles had two run-scoring hits with two outs in the win. Charles hit an RBI single in the first inning and a two-run triple in the sixth.
Right fielder Brain Pointer added an RBI single to score Charles in the sixth, which eventually proved to be the game-winning run.
Right-handed starter Jordan Guth (2-3, 2.44 ERA) picked up the win in his six-inning outing. Guth allowed only one run on five hits while striking out six.
The Threshers (13-17 in second half, 30-68 overall) will hand the ball to righty Jeb Stefan (6-8, 5.80 ERA) as the series continues on Tuesday.
Lakewood BlueClaws – Class A
The BlueClaws' game against the Kannapolis Intimidators at CMC-NorthEast Stadium in Kannapolis, N.C. was postponed due to rain.
The game will be made up this weekend at a date and time to be announced.
The Threshers (11-20 in second half, 38-62 overall) have an off day on Tuesday.
Williamsport Crosscutters – Class A-Short Season
The Crosscutters fell to the Brooklyn Cyclones, 5-2, to suffer a three-game sweep at MCU Park in Brooklyn, N.Y.
In the first inning, center fielder Aaron Brown and first baseman Wilmer Oberto knocked in runs for an early 2-0 lead.
Oberto finished the game 2-for-4 with a double and a strikeout.
However, right-handed starter David Whitehead (2-3, 3.07 ERA) was rocked for five runs on 11 hits and a walk in five innings to take the loss.
The Crosscutters (18-19) fell a game below .500 on the season. Righty Mitch Gueller (3-2, 3.60 ERA) will start the opening game of a two-game series with the Batavia Muckdogs on Tuesday.
