Lehigh Valley IronPigs – Triple A

The IronPigs were edged by the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders, 6-5, at Coca-Cola Park in Allentown, Pa.

Right-handed starter Chris Bootcheck (2-5, 4.85 ERA) allowed baserunners at an alarming rate to lose his fifth decision in a row. Bootcheck gave up four runs on four hits, four walks and a hit batsman in 4 2/3 innings.

The IronPigs did outhit the RailRiders, 11-6, but it wasn't enough.

Designated hitter Grady Sizemore went 2-for-5 with a strikeout in the leadoff spot.

Right fielder Steve Susdorf (2-for-4 with a walk and an RBI), center fielder Leandro Castro (3-for-4 with a double, a walk and two runs scored) and shortstop Nate Spears (2-for-2 with a triple, two walks, two runs scored and two RBI) had multi-hit games.

Sitting on a three-game losing streak, the IronPigs (39-44) will send righty Brad Lincoln (4-3, 4.03 ERA) to the hill as the series continues Monday in Moosic, Pa.

Reading Fightin Phils – Double A

The Fightin Phils allowed a pair of five-run innings in a 13-9 loss to the Portland Sea Dogs at FirstEnergy Stadium in Reading, Pa.

The loss was the Fightin Phils' 12th in a row.

Left-handed starter Ryan Demmin (1-2, 10.00 ERA) was torched for 10 runs on seven hits and three walks in just three-plus innings.

The offense hit five home runs in the loss and was powered by right fielder Kelly Dugan (2-for-2 with two home runs, two walks, four runs and three RBI) and designated hitter Jake Fox (2-for-5 with two home runs, two runs, five RBI and a strikeout).

The Fightin Phils (33-45) will look to snap their skid in the opener of a four-game series with the New Hampshire Fisher Cats on Monday. Righty Severino Gonzalez (4-9, 4.88 ERA) will take his turn in the rotation.

Clearwater Threshers – Class A-Advanced

The Threshers lost to the Brevard County Manatees, 5-3, and were swept in a three-game series at Bright House Field in Clearwater, Fla.

The offense started strong, but couldn't expand on leads of 2-0 and 3-1 in the loss. Right fielder Brian Pointer led the charge with a 3-for-4 performance. He finished with a home run, a double, two runs scored, an RBI and a strikeout.

Right-handed starter Miguel Nunez (2-6, 6.22 ERA) gave away those leads as he suffered the loss. He was charged for four runs on nine hits and a walk in 4 2/3 innings.

The Threshers (4-7 in second half, 21-58 overall) have an off day on Monday.

Lakewood BlueClaws – Class A

The BlueClaws snapped a seven-game losing streak with a 10-5 victory over the West Virginia Power at Appalachian Power Park in Charleston, W.Va.

First baseman Zach Green blasted two home runs and knocked in four runs to fuel his team to the win. It was Green's second and third home runs of the season.

Right-handed starter Julio Reyes was hit hard and was removed early in the contest. Reyes surrendered four runs on five hits and two walks in just 1 2/3 innings.

Designated hitter Willians Astudillo also helped the cause, going 2-for-5 with a two-run homer.

The BlueClaws (2-9 in second half, 29-51 overall) hand the ball to righty Jon Prosinski (2-1, 2.72 ERA) in the series finale on Monday.

Williamsport Crosscutters – Class A-Short Season

The Crosscutters were held to three hits in a 5-0 loss to the State College Spikes at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park in State College, Pa.

First baseman Rhys Hoskins, left fielder Matt Shortall and designated hitter Wilson Garcia all went 1-for-3 in the loss.

Right-handed starter Alejandro Arteaga (1-2, 4.56 ERA) was stuck with the loss. He allowed five runs on nine hits and a walk in seven innings. Arteaga also hit a batter, uncorked a wild pitch and committed two balks.

The Crosscutters (7-9) are idle on Monday.
