With noise and crowds, the French gets a little fried, but the Starr bistro looks great and has solid flavor potential.
Stephen Starr has often said the "most fun" aspect of his business is the process of creating his restaurant "children" - a brood of 18 stretching from Walnut Street to Atlantic City to New York. » Read more

Alcohol: The substantial French-centric list ranges from good sub-$50 choices (Alsatian "Sept Grains," $42; Madiran, $45) to big-ticket Bordeaux and Burgundies. There's a complete list of decent wines by the glass, hard cider, craft beers, pastis, brandies and themed cocktails (which still need work).

What? What?
At 11:20pm three friends and I walked into Parc for an after-dinner drink on a Saturday night in mid-April. The tables outside were packed, but inside, 80% of the tables were empty. We went to the bar but it was crowded and it was impossible to get a bartender's attention because (1) it was screaming loud, and (2) they were obviously catering to their loud-talking regulars at the bar. After waiting several minutes without service, I went to the host at the door and asked him if we could have a table. Although there were at least 50 empty tables, he told me that we could only have a table if we were ordering food. We were not. I explained that we had just come from dinner and couldn't get a drink at the bar. He shrugged his shoulders and gave me a "what do you expect" look. I asked him what time they served food until, and he said 12 midnight. It was 11:30pm. I will not go back to Parc. It is a tourist trap run by morons with egomania.
