Cuisine type: American; Pub; Vegetarian
Meals Served:   Brunch - Sat., Sun.   Lunch - Mon. thru Sun.   Dinner - Mon. thru Sun.   Late Night - Mon. thru Sun.
Style: An aging corner taproom has been transformed into a hip gastropub and craft-beer bar that could become a magnet for Kensington's gentrification. The updated regional pub fare (fried pickles, rarebit, Polish platter) balances ambition and fresh ingredients with moderate prices. The serious beer list, meanwhile, is destination-worthy.
Specialties: Fried pickles, pilsner wings; hefeweizen hummus; clams casino; corn chowder special; tailgate chilaquiles (brunch); cheeseburger; king rarebit; barley-white bean chili; Port Richmond platter; lamb porterhouse special; steak-frites.
Alcohol: A dozen taps and 40 bottles represent a smart, broad collection of the world's best beers, from local brews to uncommon finds from Green Flash, Lost Abbey, Petrus and J.W. Lees. The wine list is tiny but affordable ($20 a bottle) and well-chosen.
Weekend noise: A raucous 93 decibels. (Ideal is 75 decibelsor less.)
