Dinner - Mon. thru Sun.
Style:
This cheery cafe is a bright spot for one West Philly block on the rebound, doubling as a mellow fair-trade coffee shop and one of the area's better Ethiopian kitchens. Don't expect savvy service, but the traditional menu of spicy lentil stews and quick-fried meats served over crepelike injera is cooked with care and skill.
Specialties:
Fitfit salad; tofu wat; injera wraps; kitfo (preferably raw tartare-style); tibs - chicken (doro), lamb (yebeg) or beef (Kaffa); veggie combination - split red lentils; collards; okra; yellow split peas.
Alcohol:
BYOB. Bring something that can handle the spice - a red zinfandel, an off-dry white or a crisp beer.
Weekend noise:
Usually a mellow 73 decibels. (Ideal is 75 decibels or less.)
Hours: Full menu available Sunday through Friday, 9 a.m.-9 p.m.; Saturday, until 10 p.m.

I've eaten Ethiopian Food across the U.S., and Kaffa serves some of the most flavorful and fresh dishes that I have found. Perfect for vegetarians.
