Related reviews:
The casual sibling to upscale Jake's has Manayunk crowds willingly waiting to be seated for small plates and gourmet pizza.
Craig LaBan: Cooper's in Manayunk has clearly tapped the casual zeitgeist of 2008, from its small plates and gourmet pizzas at $15 and under to the fact that its 30-label wine bar is also bolstered with 20 serious craft beers.

Style:
Bruce Cooper turns to wood-fired gourmet pizzas, small plates, and a wine bar in this bustling annex to his contemporary standby, Jakes, and it's the ideal casual concept to keep both the high-end dining room and flagging Manayunk relevant. It can be too noisy, and weekend waits are long, but a deft blend of style and quality New American cooking remind why Cooper has been one of Philly's best for decades.
Specialties:
Pizzas: margherita; short rib; spicy meatball; king oyster; Jake burger; Caprese salad; chicken cobb; butternut squash mac & cheese; chimichurri shrimp; charcuterie plate; crab cake sandwich; roasted mushrooms; roasted beets with almond praline; cheese (Green Hill; Pleasant Ridge); cookie taco; profiteroles; apple cobbler with spiced molasses ice cream.
Alcohol:
The nearly 30 wine selection focuses on smart values (almost all under $50 a bottle, all available by the glass) that range internationally for interest rather than predictability - from Spanish verdejo from Las Brisas and Oregon's Elk Cove pinot gris to Four Vines zinfandel, Codici primitivo, and a GSM from Cline. There's also a fine collection of 20 international craft beers.
Weekend noise:
The sonically challenged 91-plus-decibel wine bar makes Jake's next door feel like a library. (Ideal is 75 decibels or less.)
Hours: Entire menu served daily 11:30 a.m.-10:00 p.m. (pizzas until 11:00.) Friday and Saturday, menu until 11 p.m. (pizzas until midnight.)
