Former Distrito honcho Tim Spinner has brought his experience as a top chef in the Garces universe to Fort Washington, where the old Alison two is now a destination for some of the best Nuevo Mex flavors in the burbs, from “crazy corn” and lively ceviches to adobo steak with marrow-creamed spinach. The colorful space is casual — and noisy — but the relatively affordable menu and friendly service make this a welcome addition.
Guacamole with crab; ceviche; clams and chorizo; octopus; artichoke huarache; nachos with beef; crab fundido; tortilla soup; squash blossom enchiladas; tacos (shrimp al carbon; mushroom; carnitas); black bass; steak with marrow-creamed spinach; mole poblano; elotes loco; coconut
and banana tres leches; Mexican chocolate crema; Domingo.
About 50 quality tequilas and margaritas blended from homemade ingredients are the core of the drink program. Try the Santana ’rita (with Espolon reposado), or just go for a straight shot of El Tesoro añejo
(among many other highlights). The beer selection has typical Mexican brews, plus some decent craft options (Oscar Blues pils; Terrapin, Prism). The wine list is small but affordable and well-matched—try glasses of aromatic white torrontes, or spice-friendly garnacha.
