Cuisine type: American
Meals Served:
Dinner - Mon. thru Sat.
Late Night - Mon. thru Sat.
Style:
The Dilworthtown Inn has opened a neighboring bistro inside a historic former general store, a pubby, bi-level space that hums with a local crowd seeking a casual ambience and affordable, contemporarized comforts (almost all less than $20 an entree). The menu is limited, but a talented young chef, David Fogleman, makes the most of his unusual kitchen comeback.
Specialties:
Chicken fingers; grilled cheese with tomato soup; mushroom crepe; bacon and egg salad; salmon with Brussels sprouts; mussels; short ribs; grilled lamb; Tasmanian trout special; steak frites.
Alcohol:
A 15-label list of affordable bottles (many less than $40, most available by the glass). The New Zealand Sacred Hill sauvignon blanc was nice, as was the Renwood zin (great for short ribs). The Dilworthown's world-class wine cellar is also available.
Weekend noise:
A very noisy 92 decibels downstairs, but slightly quieter upstairs. (Ideal is 75 decibels or less).
Hours: Monday through Saturday 4 p.m. to Midnight
Prices:
$$
