Style:
The city's best taqueria brings a fiesta of authentic Mexican cooking to Ninth Street's Cheesesteak Central. The service is painfully slow, but the made-to-order tortillas are worth the wait, as is most of the broad menu. The roll-up glass walls (and fair-weather picnic tables) also have a view onto this bustling South Philly hub.
Specialties:
Tacos: queso, al pastor, barbacoa; huaraches with meat (try carnitas); quesadillas w/huitlacoche; pozole soup; enchiladas suizas; enchiladas de mole Poblano; pierna adobada; chicken al pipian special; chile relleno; bistec with nopales special; flan asada.
Alcohol:
BYO. Beer always works, but there is also a nice selection of Mexican sodas and homemade agua fresca juices - try watermelon (sandia).
Smoking:
No smoking.
Hours: 7 days (lunch and dinner); Sunday brunch.
