Style: Marc Vetri's third restaurant is his most casual yet, a boisterous industrial space with a menu inspired by the simple-yet-striking combinations of rustic Roman cooking. The portions are small, the prices aren't cheap and it's noisy. But there's hardly a false note on the plate, on the wine list, or with the now seamless service as Vetri and his rising star chef, Brad Spence, add yet another original gem to the city's pantheon of Italian flavors.
Specialties: Mortadella mousse; eggplant caponata; snails; salumi; stuffed clams; octopus; fritto misto; baccala; carpaccio; Sal's meatballs; sweetbreads; tripe; lamb's tongue; "cacio e pepe"; rigatoni with swordfish and eggplant; bufala ricotta ravioli; pork and fennel pollen sausage; guinea hen saltimbocca; lamb with potatoes; rib eye; turkey Milanese; seafood grill; tuna steak; artichokes; escarole salad; fava beans and peas; Belgian waffles; tiramisu; strawberry rhubarb tart; chocolate tart.
Alcohol: An affordable collection of 25 wines available by glass or bottle (almost entirely sub-$50) brims with great choices covering most regions of Italy without clichés. Favorite whites include Cantina Terlano gewurztraminer and a crisp Marche vermentino from Bonci; of the reds, try the lusty Puglian Don Marcello from Torre Quarto and Sardinian "Grotta Rossa" from Santadi. There's also a notable beer list, with rare (and expensive) Italian bottles, and a skilled bar crafting deceptively simple but memorable cocktails (Cheechee; Alto).
Weekend noise: È così rumoroso! (Translation: It's so noisy!) At 93 decibels it's hard to talk, so just eat. (Ideal is 75 decibels or less.)

Updated, based on a recent revisit

Marc Vetri's most casual restaurant to date is a boisterous industrial space where chef Brad Spence serves simple yet striking combinations inspired by Rome.

The small-portion format isn't for everyone. But there's hardly a false note on the plate, and the brunch is a surprise treat.
