GoodTaste

This might not have been a bang-up summer for tomatoes, but Bar Ferdinand chef Blake Joffe has an "in": His girlfriend, Amy Remsen, who volunteers with Teens-4-Good, which runs a garden at Eighth and Poplar Streets.

Northern Liberties' Bar Ferdinand is all about tapas. In a play on tomate con pan (literally, tomato with bread), Joffe decided to mix the Teens-4-Good-grown golden yellow sunburst tomatoes from the local garden with the various heirloom varieties that his produce guys deliver, as well as all the Jerseys he can find.

He tops the sliced tomatoes with raw garlic, sherry vinaigrette, raw shallot, chives, parsley and tarragon, and adds toasted slices of baguette.

You may say tomato - but not for long. The crop should hold out a month or so.
