Blog Post: Watch your wallet: Nutter's new budget includes big new taxes - 1 out of 76 total comment(s)
- Wed., 03/03/10 - 21:25 PMIt's already a well known fact that the city can't collect on bail jumpers, scofflaws, dead-beat parents, and who knows who else. So by implementing this trash tax the city will wind up going after the people they always go after---the people who pay their bills. This isn't done just on the local level but the state and federal levels also, but I'll stay with the local taxPAYERS. The people whoPAY their taxes when they are sent---not the people who are trading license tags as I used to trade baseball cards so they don't have to pay their fines and penalties. What about the people who PAY their PGW, PECO, and PWD bills and get saddled with raises in rates (which I'm sure are coming up) because other people just don't want to pay their way? By the way, will this trash tax be able to pay for brooms and shovels like it did (back in the day) when, if the sanitation worker broke a bottle, jar, or bag they actually cleaned up after themselves. Or here's one some of the more mature readers, such as I, remember, when there was a two lane street to be snow plowed, both lanes were actually plowed.
