I'm all about the mayor being the disruptor to make people see the arrogance of the unions and they're end of life power grab. Well done Nutter.

While it was a long night, the event was a blast and I'm glad I finally competed. A event, can't wait for next year and to compete at about 10 inches.

“All we want to do is be treated fairly,” Matthews said.
Meaning a yearly 6% increase and free healthcare. Vote everyone out and loosen the noose that the unions have on this city. They're choking what life is left, out of it.

Kudos for this. Having moved from the Midwest to Philly a few years ago, I'm still dumb struck by this "right" people have to "save" spots. FYI: I'm the guy that moves your trash can. Deal with it.
Invasion of the body scanners: A national "opt-out" planned for Thanksgiving eve

It's not just the "ultra-conservatives and / or libertarians" that find this invasion of personal space beyond what is acceptable. My wife and I are pretty centered/left leaning and we've agreed to not fly to see out families during the holidays, but instead opting for the train or to drive. This idiocy has to end at some point. I also hope that the groundswell opposition to the scanning and pat downs spills over into the other violation of rights known as the Patriot Act. Hardly.

Honestly, that's an insanely low price for that location, the liquor license and the ability to have live music.

We live literally right around the corner from this place and have been waiting for it to open for months. It's great to read a bit about it since I think they had earlier aimed to be open around Thanksgiving.

after touring for years this was one of my biggest fears. I would make sure to back the trailer up against a wall or fence to hopefully stop someone from getting into the trailer, but stealing the whole thing? That's awful. Thousands of dollars in gear, which some is irreplaceable...sucks. Good luck to them.

This is all still disgusting. It's great to read of machine politics and backslapping driving not only portions of revenue the city depends on, but what people must pay out of pocket to keep their homes. Totally unacceptable, and my hope is that as the city ages and the people in charge leave office, that the churn of fresh blood into the system will change it. But I'm not holding my breath.

My wife and I closed our account last night after getting that email. First off I'm not paying $15 a month just to use a truck of van 4-6 times a year. I can just as easily rent from Enterprise and consolidate to two times a year for that price. Secondly, I was pretty pissed that that PhillyCarShare gave its members about 3 days notice to cancel or be hit with the first $15 fee. No way. That alone warranted my cancellation IMO. I'd like to give the company the benefit of the doubt, but trying to slip this one by some members who don't read their email regularly is pretty shady. Oh, and PhillyCarShare, I never did get an email confirming my cancellation, but I did remember to make a screenshot. Pretty lame. Thanks.

Looks like someone lifted the about.com dot 'logo' which can't be a good thing. People want to see something that resembles a news site, not a portal site. That's where this redesign is bad. Philly.com is a portal in theory, but in actuality users access the site for the news sections. In that way the design was poorly thought out, but tripling of the ads is just nauseating.
