Eagles sign nine undrafted rookies, won't sign Tim Tebow
- 1 out of 27 total comment(s)

Please put the Tebow madness to bed. He may be an athlete but he is not a good QB. People have hyped him up to more than he is because of his strong faith. Nothing wrong with having strong faith but that has nothing with his talent at the position.

Truth be told, Brian Dawkins was right when he said the Eagles would regret getting rid of McNabb...It took 2.5 years for that to become reality...The QB position has never been settled since they got rid of McNabb. Neither has the safety position since the got rid of Dawkins and Mickels

I hear people saying he isn't Larry Fitzgerald or Andre Johnson. You are correct, he is Djax, the guy who can turn a 3 yd catch into a touchdown. Are those players a threat every single time the touch the ball? Can they return punts? Can they stretch field? Djax had the Redskins safeties playing 30 yds off the ball. You seem to forget final play against the Giants. He is a gamebreaker. Defenses are scared when he touches the ball. As much as I am happy they have Steve Smith, he is no DJax. PAY THE MAN!!! He has earned...should even receive back pay.

7 TDs and 14 ints...Don't know how many fumbles. Yeah, thats a smart, confident and driven player.

Or Ryan Leaf, Matt Jones or Chris Simms. Around 75% of the NFL players are black so of course there will be more crimes committed by blacks. U bad mouth McNabb but what other QB in franchise history compare to him? And Im talkin our lifetime, I don't want anyone bring up pre- Super Bowl years.
I don't see what all the hype is about. He is no Aaron Rodgers and never will be. Their situation is different. Rodgers earned his starting job and no one was good enough to take it from him. Farve didn't want to fight for it because he would have lost to Rodgers. As for Kolb, he was given the job on a silver platter only to lose it to a better QB. Wherever he goes, he will continue to turn the ball over. Thats one thing he is good at.

I can't say I don't like the moves. You put a former DB in charge of the secondary, you put a LB in charge of the linebacks...They both learned from JJ. Not to knock McDermott but he never saw the game from a player's eyes. I liked McDermott though. Thru all of his faults, he did turn the D into a turnover creating machine. I hope they bring in Seth Joyner as an assistant LB coach. He was a playmaker and can definitely have some positive input.

Not all black people feel that way nor do all white people feel the way u feel. Not all blacks are in a hole either. people empathize with Vick because he did alot more time than U would have had u got convicted of the same crime. He lost millions and to be able to come back from all that is personal redemption whether u feel that way or not. Thats what life is about, learning from your mistakes and becoming a better person. As for the reason why blacks blame whites...This country was built on stolen land and our ancestors built this country for the White people to enjoy. I do agree that we should stop blaming white people and do better for ourselves.

I just looked at the Eagles roster the last year JJ was there. Outside of Dawkins and Sheldon Brown, the Eagles have better skins positions than they had back then I'd take Fokou over Gocoong. Sims and Jordan are about even. Dixon is better than Bunkley. So I can't relate on how the Eagles "have horrible players on D". Chaney is better at MLB than Bradley was (not by much) So basically, they have the same defense they had in JJ's last season. I liked McDermott but it's obvious he is years away from being a domininate Defensive coach. If they get a stud MLB, a good corner and the new Dline Coach brings pressure from the front 4, I think the D is right back up there.

Its not a race issue because black players said something. His injury didn't seem that significant to me. I've watched Elway (my favorite QB of all time), McNabb, Vick, Farve (the most disliked), Montana, Bradshaw all play with significant injuries....Would Farve had came out? Elway? McNabb? No, so yes, he wussed his way out. He doesn't have the heart of a champion. Even Staddford came back in after seperating his shoulder. Ty Detmer threw 4 tds with 2 seperated shoulders in a Bowl Game. Lesean McCoy didn't missed a game with broken ribs. The list goes on and on. I hear the Bears sticking up for him but actions speak louder than words. If he was having a good game does he come out wit the same injury? Doubt it.

Wolf 4. You are such a hypocrite. You was riding with Vick when he was dominating but so quick to bash him when he struggled. Atleast he was more consistent than the back up QB. I hope they do trade Kolb so that he can get exposed. He is not the great QB you think he is. He may have short accurate passes but he throws way too many interceptions.

Hayneworth would be the answer on the field but I don't think this team can afford his off the field issues. I think they do have some guys up front who can flourish in the right scheme. We thought Clemons was a bust until he got into a new system. I'd say get a stud MLB and good RCB and LT. Move Chaney and Bradley to OLB. That should do it on the D. Fokou might even replace Bradley as a OLB. Who knows but Bradley and Chaney is not the answer at MLB. Simms is not an answer on any position on D.

This is why Childress needs to come back as OC. Yes Marty has a quick striking offensive philosphy, but Childress's game planning won games. Just look at the red zone percentage when Childress was OC and when Marty took over. The Eagles stopped being dominant when the O changed coordinators. We always point the finger at the talent but stats don't lie. They had a better Red Zone percentage with Stinkston, Trash, Mitchell at wide receiver than with Jackson, Avant, and Maclin...So talent can't be used for the sake of argument. They still passed the ball alot back then but the offense was more stable than it is now. If they can't get a quick score, they struggle. That wasn't an issue with Childress

@Depressed...We didn't win one with Jaws, Garcia, McMahon, Pederson or any other starting QB so please don't place the race card. Let me guess, Kolb would have done so much better. He would put the team on his back because he is a "Real Leader". How about placing blame on the whole team...Everybody had their hand in it. Much as I like McDermott, he must be replaced. And thats why you are a sports editor for the Daily News and not the head coach of the football team. They needed rest whether it was deserved or not. Hopefully they took some extra time looking at how to provided the QB some protection as well as generating a pass rush. Games are one on the line of scrimmage and we havent been able to control it on either side of the ball consistently. They need a new D-Line and O-line coach. I can only imagine how it looks in practice when they face each other.

I am a die-hard McNabb fan who thinks Philly will never appreciate him for what he did. I don't see how the guy above could blame him for the loss to Arizona. He missed a couple of throws but yet he brought them back to take the lead only to watch the D give it up. Not to mention the non pass interference call on Curtis. With that being said, this is a business and McNabb has had his worst season as a pro. That's not entirely his fault. There are numerous dropped passes by the receivers. But it is his fault with all the INTS. I still think he can produce at a high level. He can't be mad at Mike and Kyle because if he was playing at a good level, none of this would come up. Good players need help to win. Great players make everyone around them better. He was a great player at one point. Only Brady, Manning and Brees could could take a team with Todd Stinkston, James Trash, Deadex and a host of other bums to the playoffs on a consistent basis. Not even Brett Farve (where he is now) could have done it as he proved he is garbage without Sidney Rice. I hope things workout for McNabb. I know for sure, they will eventually retire his jersey and it is well deserved.

Would it had been better if the Cowboys won and he asked for the autograph? I dont see the problem asking for it. Im quite sure he had that in mind before the game was played. @Wolf, I dont think Dallas is stupid enough to cut him for that. They would be the laughing stock of the NFL for a few weeks. He would not clear waivers within the first 48. Sometimes pride can be the reason for not succeeding...

@bill19666, you are such a loser. How many QBs in this league would have folded by now getting hit the way Vick has over the past few weeks? STOP comparing Kolb to Vick. Vick is an established Pro Bowler who WILL go again this year. Not to take anything away from Kolb but potential is not enough. If we based gameplay off potential, Graham, Even Turner and Kolb would all have the key to the city. Graham and Turner can't even crack the starting lineup and Yes Kolb won NFC player of the week twice but he was also a big part of the reason they were blown out in Tennesee. Stop the comaparisons.

We still have small DBs are they are running the ball well. Gonzo, I see you didnt do much research before you wrote this and u will be the first to criticize them if they lose. "He's set to become a free agent, but Vick really doesn't have a lot of freedom in terms of where he plays. If the Eagles want him back, they've got him."
I wouldnt go into negotiations with that mentality. Vick is an amazing talent that strives in our system. The Eagles system makes QBs appear alot better than they are (not to take away from their talent). There are alot of teams who need a QB and some ticket sales. Dallas, Washington, Oakland, Arizona and of course there are teams that don't need a QB who would put up money for him. His stock is rising daily. Kolb is a system QB. Will he thrive in another system? Would he make a stuggling team better? I don't think so. I would keep him because he knows this system. He is not a game changer as Vick but he is a game manager. Vick by right will put Philly higher than any team because they took a chance when nobody else would but lets be real, this is a business and it will come down to the best business decision for him. Would hate to see him go somewhere else(say Minnesota) and take them to the Super Bowl when we could have kept him...Minnesota is a QB away from being Super Bowl contenders.

We all get it, you don't like Michael Vick. U say it everytime you post. It's gotten really old. As for this game, it will be a tough one. I wouldnt put any money on it. Too many ifs. DJax, the O-Line, the D and special teams need to play better than they have been. Vic is getting hit alot. He is getting hit harder in the pocket. I do feel confident that they can win, I just hope I don't go into cardiac arrest watching the game. lol

@ eldiablodelsol2009, We cant blame Bush for our shortcomings. Yes we have to work harder than other races but we do more to hold ourselves back NOW than any race ever could. Don't get me wrong, I know our country's history. But we do the best job of holding ourselves back. With that said, Vick's redemption is based on Vick's performance on and odd the field. His road has been harder than he would imagine since God delegated so many judges on earth(Speaking sarcastically)

They better game plan for those Cowboys. They have underachieved all season but they are beating good teams with a back up QB. Jason Garret was being groomed as their future coach when they first signed Wade Phillips. None of the games will be easy. But I have confidence in our team (Not so much the D and special teams) and if the O explodes then we have a good chance of winning. I just hope none of the games will be left in the hands of the D...I guess I should say begging God not to let that happen. lol

@Fakknor, with Vick in the game, the offense can score from any spot on the field at any time. There are less interceptions thrown and less sacks. Not to mention, Philly would not be 8-4 at this point with Kolb starting. I hope you see the difference between system QBs and Superstar talent...

Not to mention how many passes would have been completed to the other team. How about u place blame where it should be...On the Defense that made Jay Cutler look like John Elway, The O-line, the Special Teams who couldn't cover a letter, and horrible Red Zone Play calling. Maybe we should try to get Childress back....When we had him, we had no problem scoring in the Red Zone. Those problems came with Marty.

Wow, Did u really think Vick would go undefeated as a starter? Imagine if it was Kolb with all that pressure all day. The score wouldn't have been as close as it was. The D gave up too many points too fast. So tell me what D is going to play their regular D when you have a quick 2 TD lead and your front 4 is getting constant pressure. It's pretty simple, they got outcoached today. They need to bounce back next week.

No matter how much u hate it, Vick will once again be paid a lot of money. Vick is no hero...He is a professional football player. @ Capt underpants...it's not hard to figure out ur ethnic background and how u feel about black people. Its a shame that there are a few racists still out there. But U have God to answer to, so have fun while it last. I wonder who's reality is so twisted that they forgave Vick because he's doing great on the field. I never forgave him because it wasn't and not my position to do that nor did he do anything to me to be forgiven. He did his time, lost everything he had and will get rediculed the rest of his life. So I say, he's paid a hefty fine. I am really sick of reading every single article about him because all of them never forget to say he served time for dog fighting....Actually, he did two years for racketeering....

U people are funny....Wait to pay him....why? The longer they wait, the more it will cost them. Vick has proven he can play at a high level. Do u really think the Eagles would be 7-3 with Kolb starting every game? Dont get me wrong, I like Kolb but he is not a franchise QB and I dont see he ever will be. He has too many needs to be productive. Vick is an X-factor. The line was horrible yet he put up points, and u see what happens when they protect him (59-28) He served his time and its between him and God if he is remorseful. He beat the #D in the league with all those penalties and dropped touchdowns. Some idiot said "Don't throw all the money to Vick when there are others that deserve to be rewarded for their stellar play." Really? Wasnt it Vick who has made them better?

if I were the Eagles, I would keep Vick for the long haul. It's tough when they signed Kolb to so much over so many years. But that's their fault for giving him the job without him earning it. I'd keep him as a backup because we know he is good enough should Vick get hurt or fall into a slump. Vick has too much talent to be let go. Kolb is more accurate but as u have seen all year, with Vick in, the O can score on any play from anywhere. OBTW, Marty need to take those drags out of the playbook. He is going to get our receivers killed...ex Jackson and Celek.
Mon., 11/08/10 - 18:31 PM
Everyone, from now on, let's respond to anyone who posts a comment about Vick fighting dogs. It's obvious their opinions will never change on him regardless of what people with faith and comment sense say to them. They can't have faith if they aren't willing to forgive especially with the debt he paid to society. If he got off easy, I'd hate to see what the kitchen sink would have looked like. Anyways, Good win Eagles. I didn't expect them to win but they pulled it out. It scares me that we beat them by two without Dallas Clark, Collie and Adai in Philly. But a win is a win and this was a needed win with Atl and the Giants winning. McDermott called one of his better games. I yelled "It was killing u not to get a false start" when Peters got the penalty in the 3rd qtr. lol. But shockingly, he had a pretty good game as well. When they Eagles play hard and smart, I think they can beat any team in the league. If the D played 4th qtr ball like that all year, they could be undefeated. Including the Green Bay game...

@jnic117, U are naming QBs who had game changing defenses and special teams. In all of the "BIG" games, name one player that stepped up and who's performance went in vain when the Eagles were playing in the "Big Games". Im sick of people bashing McNabb. Maybe we should have drafted Ricky Williams. Now Andy is this great coach. He is the same caoch who tried to run the ball against Tampa when the whole world knew Tampa would focus on stopping the run. No matter what u think, numbers don't lie, Andy and McNabb have put together HOF numbers as coach and QB. Im a McNabb fan and kinda glad they benched him because he has played poor and I hope it makes him focus harder. But all the bashing he is taking is rediculous.

Not to mention they have 2 loses in the conference compared to the Redskins 1. I can honestly say the playcalling has been alot better the past two weeks for the offense. Its amazing what play-action can do. We just need to tighten up on D,special teams and 4th quarter clock management. I'd say thier goal should be to score at least 10 points in the forth because we know the D will spot the other team at least 10.

People, the knock has never been on Kolb's accuracy when he has a line that gives him all day. The reason why Vick is starting because Kolb will not have all afternoon to pass like he did today. When he gets pressured, he folds, when he's not pressured he will pick apart a defense when they aren't presenting him with confusing courage. With that being said, Great Game KK.

Now, this article is really unecessary because Vick will start due to Kolb having a concussion. Kolb will start when he's available. Hopefully he will do better than he has done in the past. I could have thrown for 300 yards against KC...Miles Austin had 200 receiving. He has shown nothing to me that says he should be our starter. He never earned the job and this year, the back up is out performing him...And don't give me that 1st year started stuff either. He's been in the system for 4 years. Vick for less a year (and was out of football for 2 yrs). Yall crowned him King, yall gave him his stripes before he earned them. If this experiment fails, Andy will be out of a job. Im still going to root for the Birds, but I want Donovan to get a ring with the Skins. After all the stuff he's been thru, he's earned one.
