"Chocolate Symphony" and the Alzheimer's Association Delaware Valley Chapter
Nearly three hundred individuals and representatives of various corporations gathered to celebrate the love of chocolate and the care of people at the Alzheimer’s Association’s annual Chocolate Symphony Spring Sensation at the Loews Philadelphia Hotel.
The Spring Sensation gala featured a gourmet dinner, a live auction, award presentations and dancing. Back by popular demand was emcee host Orien Reid-Nix, former Board Chair of Alzheimer’s International, who tag teamed with 6 ABC News Anchor Rick Williams, who was auctioneer at the event. This year’s special guest, actress Tracie Thoms who gained celebrity status during her Broadway run in the play Rent as well as the movie, appeared in the motion picture "The Devil Wears Prada," and now stars in the hit TV show "Cold Case" told guests her personal story about why she became an Alzheimer’s Champion.
Philadelphia sports icon Jon Runyan presented awards to special fundraisers, including for the first time this year, a Young Philanthropist Award. Runyan and his wife Loretta are honorary co-chairs of the event. To celebrate Chocolate Symphony’s diamond anniversary someone took home a 1ct round solitaire diamond prize.
