Change
Take the $6 million off the table until workers and union reps go back to the table. If they leave again, the State should take over Septa and the City should take over the El and Broad Street line. Nutter is not doing enough.

Dissolve SEPTA
Declare a state of emergency and let the Feds, State and City take over all mass transit until a new agency/contract proposal can be drawn. Consider privitization.

Fire them ALL!
Fire the TWU workers, especially Willie Brown. No reason kids should miss school because some lazy union president doesn't think he's making enough money. A SEPTA strike affects far too many people.

Privatize or fire the union
Another example of this unions grip on the city. We need someone with the courage shown by Ronald Reagan to deal with this as was the case with the Air Traffic Controllers...

Get government out of our lives
See what happens when government controlled entities run things? If the transit system was in private hands, things would run more efficiently and cost effectively.

ABSURD
This strike makes no sense!! There are far too many highly educated under paid qualified professionals that are unemployed and or working in a non related field today and these inconsiderate BUS DRIVERS and their leader seem to believe they are under paid! What ever happened to: The more you learn the more you earn? Most of these guys are lucky to have completed H.S.!! This strike has caused major safety concerns and have traumatized our future leaders and caregivers by not providing means of transportation to and from school. These BUS DRIVERS need to count their blessings and be appreciative of what they have. I really hope that this system can be changed to avoid this from ever happening again i.e. fire them all and hire more competent qualified professionals that appreciate providing a safe environment of transportation.

More pressure on TWU than City
I think the good will of the people ran out already. With everyone else looking at cuts or stagnant pay, SEPTA offered an 11% increase over 5 years and that's not enough. If you compare their rate of pay it's much better than NYC based on cost of living differences.

FIRE EM
Have them run by the state like it is in boston MBTA is clean, efficient and best of all CHEAP. And guess what they don't strike. SEPTA you make enough get over yourselves. I'm sick of how you hold Philadelphia on a leash with your subpar service it needs to end now.

Privatization? LOL
Consider privatization? You people really do live in a fantasy land. You do realize that SEPTA used to be private, right? So did the NYC subway. They all went bankrupt. There is no money to be made in moving people around, unless you're getting a fat subsidy from the government.

Fire Them All
I used to be more sympathetic to the union causes...worker safety, worker rights, etc. BUT to not give any notice to those who use public transit, and subsidize it with tax $$$s, loses my support. I will never ride SEPTA again, and I hope these guys are all fired. Let them go look for work like everybody else...and then come to realize what it means to work for a living, instead of being entitled to a paycheck, a pay raise, pension, etc....WITHOUT being held accountable. Accountability for their actions should start now...fire them.

Dissolve the union
Dissolve the Union as Reagan did in 1980. In this environment to be striking when you DON'T GET A BIG ENOUGH RAISE is outrageous. Break the Union and hire our own new employees. Let Rendell do it, he's got the courage to stand up to them.

Who's zooming who?
Willie Brown doesn't take SEPTA, he drives. Why isn't he contributing to SEPTA's financial stability by utilizing Public Transit? I mean, he is head of the Transportation Workers Union isn't he? Where's the solidarity?

Unions Work
Are you tired of no pay increases? Long hours without overtime pay? Are you having to pay more and more for your Medical and able to put less away for your retirement? Ofr did you get a raise but it went right into the Medical Coverage increase, so really you didn't get a raise? Tired of your company cutting jobs and slashing everything in site. Then turn around and show they made a profit? But you get nothing out of it. Stand up for yourself. America needs more Unions. GM didn't manage their money so well. But Ford did. They blame the Unions when the facts are it was the company! You have a voice. Use it. Organize now! Stop accepting the way your company treats you. Stop saying "well everyone is doing it:. Just like what your parents told you: "If everyone was jumping off the bridge would you do it?" NO! It is your American duty to fight for justice in the work place. This America.

FIRE THEM ALL/VOTE THE CITY OFFICIALS OUT
This is a situation out of control. Thousands depend upon SEPTA to live day by day... and to be held CAPTIVE by a UNION whose GREED /LAZINESS is beyond belief.I HOPE THE ENTIRE SYSTEM IS REVAMPED AND ORGANIZED. Why arent the ADMINISTRATORS getting out there and keeping the system ( or a revised version of it ) running....IT IS TIME TO START OVER....FROM THE TOP TO THE BOTTOM and next NOVEMBER VOTE THE CITY /STATE OFFICIALS OUT OF OFFICE. THIS SHOULD BE A KEY ISSUE....REVAMPING MASS TRANSIT in PHILADELPHIA. This subject has needed dire attention for years now.

GUT SEPTA BOARD MEMBERS (YEST MEMBERS)
The Union strike is one thing but until the Mayor pushes for a better board that is made of MAJORITY CITY REPRESENTATION, Septa service will stink relative to DC and Boston (NYC is apples and oranges). You would probably have quicker negotiations if there was more city representation ANYWAY.

Take Care When Bicycling
Dear fellow citizens, If you decide to bike during the strike -- or as many because of the economy, please be careful. Officially, we bicyclists are cars! Yup, we are supposed to behave as cars as supposed to -- obeying laws, yielding to pedestrians, not weaving in traffic, not driving on the sidewalks (unless under 12), and so forth. Unfortunately, bicyclists are hurt or hurt others (a few deaths too alas) fairly regularly. So, friends, be safe and careful and let other bicyclists and motorists know your intentions. In peace, Steve Gulick

Pray for sanity
I wouldn't deny any worker the right to unionize. However, being a union member does not obligate one to follow an idiot. Considering that the Pennsylvania state budget was only settled weeks ago, I am forced to question the I.Q. and overall morals of President Brown. Strike when funds are available. It seems ridiculously selfish to demand all these increases in such financially lean times. It's a down right insult to the thousands of workers who have received pink slips and are now unemployed. Rather than pay increases for SEPTA workers, how about mandatory customer service training. I have seen far too many incidents of customer discourtesy from SEPTA employees. Just this week, I witnessed a Regional Rail attendant actually holding up an already late train at 30th Street Station to argue with a customer. I think SEPTA workers sometimes forget that we "nussances" are the very customers who guarantee their employment. Maybe if the government takes over your employing agency and tosses your ungrateful butts out on the street, you will learn not only to appreciate us customers, but the employment that you take for granted as well. May God have pity on you and your families SEPTA workers!!
