Fraud is allowed against little guys
Reports often show the DA wasting enormous resources on corrupt drug arrests or prosecuting protesters, etc. But con-men can operate in Phila. with impunity as the DA tells powerless victims, it's unimportant to them. I was a victim of a fake plumber, with a fake L&I lisc. number, losing $1200. I did all of the necessary investigation to make prosecution easy, and certainly the con man hits other simple citizens having emergencies. The DA does not serve common Philadelphians, who live without protection. The DA office is nothing but a servant of powerful interests. Common people are suffering all over the city because of the absurd priorities in the system-a system fraud victims continue to support with our hard earned tax dollars.

LYNN ABRAHAM SHOULD BE INDICTED!!
Glennm7 is correct! Lynn bin Abraham is MORE morally bankrupt than Mike Nofong, the notoriously rogue prosecutor in the Wake Forest lacrosse players case. I call on Seth Williams to fire every employee in the DA's office and hire new, uncorrupted staff. I also call on Williams to audit every case bin Abraham's office has ever tried; the REAL crimes will be discovered and bin Abraham will be the main suspect!!

revolving door for criminals
it's been reported by various sources that the DA's method of assigning cases has left the staff overworked and unprepared. I hope that DA Williams is able to turn this around.

TALK ABOUT PATRONAGE JOBS...
This office beats the BRT and the Parking Authority in the number of patronage positions, like DUH? most of the office is PATRONAGE....DUH???,. Most of the office has been made exempt so that the employees are "at will employees" They have neices, cousins, "mother, son & daughter", son of a friend etc. This place need to be audited by the Inspector General. Some people get raises, others get none.. I would love to get a raise every three months too....

I won't be sorry to see let them loose Abraham go
Friends of mine and I were above the law while she was DA,Hopefully things will change with the new DA.But I definitely escaped due to the statute of limitations thanks to Her,What I did to child was crummy and it is nice to know that people in this city will continue to think you were tough on crime.You weren't,I had a badge and you let me walk so I will not be sorry to you go.

Thank God for a new D.A.
While the Daily News blasted City Council for for the D.R.O.P. program, Lynne Abraham's cronies were consistently collecting their D.R.O.P. check and coming back to work, like first hopefully frmr 1st Deputy Arnie Gordon and others. I hope that Seth has some pride and in the ability to find qualified people to do the job and enough self esteem to know he can train people to succeed whoever retires.

I am waiting for the wheels of justice to grind on Lynne Abraham. Under her watch over the last two decades or so we have seen more cops committing more crimes and gettin slaps on the wrists,more cops getting shot,more corruption within the police department and little to no consequence. We have seen cases not reported and made public but swept under the rug. We have see grand standing and nose thumbing at the very law she and her office are sworn to uphold.We have seen a misuse of power,abuse of power and more importanly politics over fairness and justice. For the cases still under investigation under her watch when they occured and the lack of prosecutorial handling she should be indicted for obstruction and charged as if a common criminal. I am just wondering when it will happen. Does the new DA mean more of the same just with a different name and skin tone or is he really about his business and about change and regaining a trust in the police,and justice system that went out the door 50yrs ago?

Dont guarantee MERCY to a thug
Last month at the Kimmel Center, you said something to the effect of justice without mercy is evil...evil is having a voilent rap sheet a mile long, but I respect that opinion :). There's nothing wrong with a little compassion, but the key is to not put a GUARANTEE of that in front of the thugs. Thugs LOVE to guarantee their safety by outnumbering and ambushing unarmed defenseless victims. The KEY is a criminal justice system with NO GUARANTEES. No guarantees of compassion, length of sentence...or the death penalty. If mercy is your agenda, RANDOMIZE it...one guy gets a light sentence, next 2 get the max, next guy get compassion, next 5 get the max. Dont just come out with a flat guarantee that every thug will get the SAME result. Because then the thug has what is the most important thing to him, assurance of his safety, which makes him more likely to commit a crime.

Only getting 1yr for shooting at 7people
Brahim Smith had 7 lives in front of him when he started shooting on oct.16,2006 and do you think he got a mandantory 5yrs. for a crime with a gun. Consequences of helping to frame Jose Cuevas
What I find so incredible to understand is how the criminal justice system will protect the status quo of ineffectiveness. Jose Cuevas record has never been cleared of that incident where he was framed. Once I confessed to my involvement after surviving the incident with Brahim Smith on oct.16,2006. The only person to benefit from my confession was Brahim Smith for the DA's office did all it could to get Brahim Smith to plead guilty to these minor crimes instead of sending a message. That NORTH PHILA IS NOT THE WILD WEST, But that message got lost in translation to mean It's ok to shoot like your crazy. The only reason Brahim Smith got a conviction was that I as going to court everyday to make sure the charges that had to do with me weren't dropped. He plead guilty to Reckless endangerment and Carrying a firearm without a license, Time served and walked out the courtroom with probation. The prosecution has the right to bring back some of the old charges especially since Mr. Smith violated the plea agreement by being caught with another gun. When will the DA's office start being more forceful in prosecuting these quality of life crimes and not just the high profile cop cases.

Why do we pay taxes to support a legal system that does not serve the community and uphold the law.
On April 21, 2010 a Cherry Hill, Nj dentist, Dr. George Edward Rankin,IV, took tenants property and refuses to give it back after multiple attempts to reclaim property. The Philadelphia Sheriffs Dept was called and they said it was a police matter, so the Philadelphia Police was called. An officer arrived (eating a sandwich and never even got out of his car) and said call Sheriffs Dept, who again said call the police dept. The police responded again and the officer then called his supervisor who said it was a police matter. This is a case of theft... The officer then walked to the corner to look at the situation and then said he really didn't want to get involved. So he handed me a piece of paper and said to call later and get a report number and then left the scene. No arrest or anything was done by the Philadelphia Police Dept. DA's office does not respond to the little guys, money talks in this town i guess
My landlord eviced me and then stole all my personal property and refuses to return it. The DA's office refuses to talk to us about it. So once again the little guys gat walked all over and the money guys rob you blind and walk away freely....That the philly da's wat i guess. The police officer that stopped by during the theft said"I do not want to get involved".....What a legal system!!!!!!!!

DA overlooks crimes!
We are currently having our house stolen from us by a crook and Sex Offender Dwayne E. Stewart. We have done everything to try and get this man out of our home. Cops, DA won't do a thing. Currently he is fraudulently trying to sell it while he forces us into foreclosure. Please read this Blog to get the whole picture on this crook Dwayne E. It literally would blow your mind truly unbelievable. But it is sadly all true. I never new your house could be taken out from under you until this happened. I would have never believed in a thousand years that nobody would do anything about it. I realized for the first time this past year that you can grow up in Philadelphia, be a good citzen, pay your taxes and when you need the law on your side you have to spend thousands of dollars to get justice! If I had that kind of time and money I wouldn't be in foreclosure now! Laws mean nothing unless they are inforced. In any other crime the burden is on crimnal to prove he is inocent, but in this case they want me to spend thousands in court to prove it is our house. Let the burden be on Dwayne to prove it is his. We got the morgage and the papers, but it doesn't work that way. If I stole a car in Philly. The cops would chase me down, throw me in jail and return the car. But if you steal a house they won't even come or respond. You don't have to chase him down he is sitting in my living room! What kind of backwards justice is this! If you can believe this.... Dwayne is in our house. He changed all locks put cameras up. Lied to cops said we were harassing him. Assaulted my brother when he came to door and they went on high speed chase through Philly with Dwayne trying to kill him. Cops let Dwayne go. Told us to file charges with DA. DA convinced my brother to drop charges because his life could be in danger. Telling you, City is so corrupt! This is why crime prevails in Philly because no one seems to care!

Horses gone wild!
I am a resident of southwest philadelphia, and have been for the last 28 years. 5 years ago a couple moved into our block, which has 10 property owners in total, refitted their garage into a horse stable, and brought 5 horses out to join us in our residential neighborhood! An average horse creates 50 pounds of manure a day. That is 250 pounds of manure on a daily basis. They are in violation of numerous codes, L&I has been made aware, multiple times, in writing, in e-mail, and via the phone, however have taken NO ACTION! I recently decided to sell my house, next door to the "horse people" as we affectionately call them, and so far the buyers who have come out have all stated, in writing, that they would have made an offer if not for the horrendous smell of horse manure. Another resident on our block is trying to sell his house as well, same issue. In addition to manure, the bugs and flies have really picked up. I spoke with the owners of the horses, and their reply was "We're not leaving, if someone wants to buy your house, they better love horses" UNBELIEVABLE L&I has not responded to my repeated phone calls and e-mail, the SPCA says there is nothing they can do, and the District Attorney states that this is outside of their control as it is another City of Philadelphia agency not enforcing their policies. L&I is corrupt, it just so happens that every time a resident calls, the "horse people" seem to be in a rush to get their horses on to a trailer and get them out of there. It just so happens that the L&I truck shows up about 15 minutes after they leave... "nothing we can do" To add insult to injury, the horse people have cleared out a section of Redevelopment authority land to use as a horse corral. This land is right across the street from my house. They let the horses do their business right there and just leave it to ferment.. RDA has been informed, came out, put up no trepassing signs twice (which the horse people rip down) and say "Theres nothing we can do about it." GET AND INJUNCTION! TAKE LEGAL ACTION. THEY ARE FLAGRANTLY VIOLATING TRESPASSING AND ZONING CODES AND THERE IS "NOTHING YOU CAN DO ABOUT IT?" The police department is corrupt. I see the cops feeding the horses carrots, but every time we call them to report the trespassing on RDA land, they never ever show up...thats right, they don't come. Unfortunately I've had to hire a private attorney to sue L&I and RDA for not enforcing their zoning regulations and no trespassing ordinances. 7 of the 10 property owners on our block have all said they would vote the horse people off the island, and will be joining me for a class action suit which my attorney is very confident will yield the desired results. FYI, the owner of the horses owns south street bagel on 2nd and south. He has a worker that lives in an apartment (zoning breach) above the horse stable (zoning break) who is a 60+ year old polish immigrant. They don't even give him keys to the fence. He climbs a 6 foot tall, chain link fence, every night to get to his residence...sad.
