Letters: It's really the 'City of No Love for Gays of Color'

The 'City of No Love for Gays of Color' As a gay woman of color, one would think that I would not be discriminated against by the gay community. However, there is no love or comraderie shared between gay people of color and other gays ("Race a divide in Gayborhood," Wednesday).

The 'City of No Love for Gays of Color'

As a gay woman of color, one would think that I would not be discriminated against by the gay community. However, there is no love or comraderie shared between gay people of color and other gays ("Race a divide in Gayborhood," Wednesday).

Philadelphia's slogan of "City of Brotherly Love and Sisterly Affection" is nothing but a farce.

Since we are all in the struggle of life together - along with sharing the same experience - all gays should embrace one another, since we know what hatred and homophobia feel like when it is spewed at us by the heterosexual community.

It is sad, and it also shows ignorance, when gay people of color are made to feel uncomfortable and unwelcomed in gay establishments.

I wish Abdul-Aliy Muhammad and Shani Akilah, cofounders of Black and Brown Workers' Collective, the best of luck in their attempts to conquer this ugly issue, although I won't hold my breath waiting for things to change.
