Leave texting alone
A bill proposed by New Jersey Assemblywoman Pamela R. Lampitt (D., Camden) to outlaw texting while walking once again makes me believe legislators just spin their wheels to justify their salaries and get publicity ("Fine sought for cell use while walking," Saturday). This is the latest in a series of inane laws and bills that require backseat car riders to buckle up, mandate a minimum speed on state highways, would fine drivers for smoking with kids in the car, and would require businesses and homeowners to register security cameras with police.
A texting-while-walking law would be another sign that New Jersey wants to become a nanny state.
