Letters: Changing his mind about Vietnam

AS A Vietnam veteran, I used to feel that we did not accomplish anything in Vietnam. To all veterans, I feel that we did accomplish something, from what I can see now.

AS A Vietnam veteran, I used to feel that we did not accomplish anything in Vietnam.

To all veterans, I feel that we did accomplish something, from what I can see now.

At least in Vietnam today it is a peaceful nation and people are not killing each other, unlike Iraq and Afghanistan. We accomplished nothing in Iraq, and we are going to accomplish nothing in Afghanistan.

We lost a lot of lives for nothing. We are not wanted in Afghanistan. President Obama, please bring our troops home. No more lives wasted!

Fare-thee-wel(fare)

To Zeena Garnett: Instead of your hatred for folk on welfare, you should be down on your knees thanking your whomever that you never have to exist on welfare. What kind of human would think that living on welfare affords a, as you said, "lavish lifestyle"?

You call long lashes, colorful nails and cheap "Remi" hair living large, do you? Also, whatever food a person on welfare buys - after it being none of your business what anyone has in their cart - you forget that this food has to last a full month. Some people have many mouths to feed, Zeena Garnett.

You insult me further, saying that they can afford housing. Would you live in their neighborhoods? I think not.

You claim they get assistance for school and guaranteed a job after all this. Are you crazy?

Well, Zeena Garnett, you obviously have no clue about which you speak. Therefore, since you think welfare folk are living the life, why don't you trade places for a month. Lets see how lavishly you live.

Simply because your life is not what you think it should be, stop your hatred. We are all going through tough times. You have no idea what folk on welfare are going through. The last time I checked, more of your persuasion are on welfare. Check your facts.

Trading on Trayvon

Last weekend in Chicago, 40 shootings resulted in 10 murders and 39 people wounded. By my count, that adds up to 49 Trayvon Martins.

Where were Al Sharpton, the NAACP and the national news media? Why no public outrage, no marches, no calls for "justice"?

Could it be that since it was black-on-black crime it doesn't fit into their agenda?
