Letters: Philadelphia's Gun Court: Less bang for our bucks?

PHILADELPHIA'S
Gun Court - a seven-year "experiment" - will be closing at the end of the year due to funding issues.
Court officials reportedly have "no data" on whether the court succeeded in preventing future gun crimes by the defendants. Seriously? No data after being in existence for seven long years? In other words, Gun Court was just another tax-funded government program that ultimately proved to be a complete failure!

Term limits for bozos
Term limits for all elected offices. End lifelong bozos. Do your job instead of worrying about getting elected again because you only get one term! From Smallville, USA, throughout all government. No more lobbyists, either!
P.S. I do hope all you Mike Vick haters are vegans! (Nuff said, for that's another letter.)

Speaking of Vick . . .
Mike Vick is a decibillionaire.
Yet there he was boohooing about his broken hand (which he did himself) and about being treated like an old rag! You're a quarterback in the NFL, bubba.
The defense are wolves and you're the pork! What did you expect for your $100 million?

Yes, Vick is a convicted dog-killer, and, yes, the Eagles lost again, but not because Vick fought and killed dogs - it's because of soft linebackers and no offensive line.
I'm tired of people hating on Vick for his past. He served his time and got a second chance.
And, yes, I'm a dog owner.

Watching the Eagles play Sunday was a painful and disappointing experience. They have only average players, were poorly coached and have little or no chance of reaching the playoffs.
Vick will be fortunate to finish the season. Lay the blame on the sportswriters who followed the script put out by the Eagles publicity department. Overnight, the dream team evolved into a nightmare.

A word to the wise
A hint to Temple in its quest to replace its president:
I suggest William "Bill" Bergman (most recently vice president for public safety). He has a brilliant mind not only for the field of safety, but displays a profound sense of academic life. I feel Bill possesses the skill and leadership required of a university president.

Just wondering
Do the people who are yelling to increase the taxes on millionaires think any of that money is actually going to get collected?
* Why is it taking so long for the president's "jobs bill" to be introduced? Supposedly it's the most important thing in the country.
* Why Andy Reid has been telling us for more than 10 years that he needs to do a better job, but he never does.
* Why the owners of "smartphones" are "stupid" enough to pay twice for the same (incoming and outgoing calls) service.

No immigrant baloney
Re Stu Bykofsky's column on new citizens:
Great story. I particularly liked the way he expressed their pride and desire to learn English to achieve the American Dream.
That's the way it should be, and not the baloney now being pushed around for the illegals.
I'm a naturalized citizen and had to jump through a lot of hoops before I got my citizenship.
We proud citizens worked hard to earn it.
