Letters: Not-so-balanced coverage of the two new Mumia Abu-Jamal films

THE Daily News' liberal views couldn't have been more evident as I finished reading your two side-by-side articles on the films surrounding Mumia Abu-Jamal's cold-blooded murder of Police Officer Danny Faulkner.

THE Daily News' liberal views couldn't have been more evident as I finished reading your two side-by-side articles on the films surrounding Mumia Abu-Jamal's cold-blooded murder of Police Officer Danny Faulkner.

The Valerie Russ article was devoted entirely to a subjective film, "Trial of Justice," by Johanna Fernandez, a noted liberal.

Meanwhile, you'd think the article by Queen Muse, in fairness, would have been devoted entirely to Tigre Hill's objective, fact-based film, "Barrel of a Gun."

But she strays ("slants"?) about halfway through and devotes the remainder of her article to the "opposing" liberal view and nut-job Mumia protesters while failing to even mention that Maureen Faulkner attended the viewing of "Barrel of a Gun."

Abu-Jamal should've been put to death before Queen Muse was even born, and now she's around to pass on slanted coverage of him to another generation of radicals. Justice for Danny Faulkner.

Riding the recession

Now that the recession is officially over, I'd like to thank it.

During this time I bought my first home, no money down (VA loan, at 5 percent, 30-year fixed). Oh, and first-time home-buyer credit, too.

Also purchased a new automobile with a 4.5 percent loan.

And although my retirement and savings took quite a beating, I went all-in while it was low, and am now back in the black.

Proper financial management and good life choices will go a long way - in good times and bad.

A divisive comment

Regarding Councilwoman Quinones-Sanchez's remark, "Who's going to come to a meeting if you're going to be sitting around all white men?"

She was elected to represent her whole district, not just Hispanics and those she deems worthy of inclusion. Her blatant disregard and disrespect for white men is clearly evident. It's racially divisive and cheap.

What's even more troubling is that it came in such a public forum. For she knows she is protected by her double-minority status. Just another example of the glaring double standards that exist in racial issues today.
