I'M ABSOLUTELY sick and tired of the swim-club controversy - enough already!
Yes, I'm white and yes, I am a member of that swim club. If in the eyes of many, that makes me a racist, so be it.
You don't know me, stop trying to judge me.
What really has my gall about this entire situation is that the day-camp children are being portrayed as victims and have been "traumatized" by this whole event. Are they the only victims? Are they the only people who have been "traumatized"? Give me a break!
What about the children who belong to the swim club? Has anyone stopped to think about them? No!
No one has considered how traumatized the Duesler children must be. I've read reports that they were sent out of town by their parents for fear of their safety. Or how about my child, why don't you stop and consider her feelings?
I'm raising my child with proper values and respect for all people. She is intelligent, respectful and kind.
She, again this summer, is volunteering her time, free of charge, to work at the day camp located in the city rec center near our home. It's not far from the Creative Steps Camp and is also predominantly black and Hispanic.
For the second summer in a row my 14-year-old child has selflessly given of her time and talents to children of other races and her thanks for that is the label of "racist."
No one is chasing her down giving her free ice cream or gymnastic lessons.
Way to go, society! You should be commended for your narrow-mindedness and ability to see only one side of situation.
