Letters | Geography lesson II

LOTS OF laughter for Mr. Reilly's July 13 letter on the geographical blunders of the press. It is true that the press sometimes gets neighborhoods and places wrong. These are not in Overbrook: St. Joseph's University, Hazelhurst Street, the old Acme warehouse, Pinn Memorial Baptist Church and the 1900 block of N. 54th St. They are in Wynnefield. If the press doesn't know, they should ask somebody who lives there.

Tough on self-defense

I'm sick and tired of seeing articles in the paper and stories on TV news asking "What can I do to stop the killings?"

I was attacked by my someone I know. In respect for his family, I didn't call the cops, but tried to get a restraining order. In court, I found out that since he isn't my lover, baby mother or relative, I can't.

I wanted to get a stun gun to protect myself, but that's illegal. But it is legal for me to buy a gun. This doesn't make sense. It's like this city is set up for you to be a murderer.

Non-'news' bulletin

I was watching "Dateline," a mystery where a woman killed her husband, a minister. Just when it got interesting, they broke in with an announcement: Gov. Rendell had come to terms with all parties and everyone is going back to work.

When this was over, I figured we would return to the ending of "Dateline," but they never did.

Is this the way to treat us "Dateline" fans? We could've had the news about the state employees at the regular time - it wasn't that important.

And now I don't know the ending of the story. Will someone out there who knows please write in and tell me?
