Mr. Faix graduated from Lansdowne-Aldan High School, and earned a bachelor's degree and a master's degree in finance from Drexel University. He served in the Army at Fort Lee, Va., and was discharged in 1971.
As a Drexel co-op student, he worked for Community Federal Savings & Loan in Philadelphia, now Atlantic Financial, and met his future wife, Cheryl McClellen, there. Later he worked for Lehigh Valley Bank in Bethlehem, Pa., and American Heritage Federal Credit Union.
Since 2004, Mr. Faix had been senior vice president of First Colonial National Bank in Collingswood. Though he had battled cancer for two years, his wife said, he continued to work until a week ago.
Mr. Faix was a fan of college football, especially Penn State, and enjoyed target shooting. What he liked best, his wife said, was spending time with his family.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Faix is survived by a son, Robert Jr., and a daughter, Karen.
Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Baron Rowland Funeral Home, 1059 Old York Rd., Abington, and from 10 a.m. Wednesday at Valley Forge Presbyterian Church, 191 Town Center Rd., King of Prussia.
