Leonard Michael Scannapieco, 64, of Newtown, Bucks County, a former project manager at Scannapieco Development Corp., died Jan. 6 of prostate cancer at his home.

Born in North Philadelphia to Alphonse and Carole Scannapieco, he was one of five children in a close-knit family.

Mr. Scannapieco graduated from Cardinal Dougherty High School and briefly attended Philadelphia University in East Falls, before founding his own construction company, Estate Homes Inc., in 1990. The firm, which is no longer in operation, was based in Washington Crossing.

In 2000, Mr. Scannapieco joined his brother, Tom, in the latter's contracting company, which specializes in building high-end residential towers.

He helped develop the Waterworks and Waterview Place, both luxury condominiums on the Delaware River in New Hope, as well as the Boiler House office building next to the condos.

In 2009, he joined WeichertAC Realtors in Atlantic City, and became the property manager for the Bella, a high-rise condominium. He worked in various phases of real estate before retiring in October 2015.

"Len," as Mr. Scannapieco was called, was very social. He enjoyed opening his home to extended family, friends and strangers for good food, wisdom, and laughs.

"He had many friends, many hobbies, many ideas, and a strong conviction to live a life pleasing to the Lord with his wife and children," said his wife, Marie Olejnik Scannapieco.

In addition to his wife of 35 years, he is survived by daughters Michele Greenockle, Lori Oberholtzer, and Dana Diaz; three grandchildren; two brothers; two sisters; and many nieces and nephews.

Services were Jan. 8 and Jan. 10. Interment was in Forest Hills/Shalom Memorial Park in Huntingdon Valley.
