Born in Rahway, N.J., Mr. Wall earned a bachelor's degree in English at Villanova University in 1968 and a master's at what is now Rowan University in 1980.

Mr. Wall taught at Haddonfield Memorial in the 1970s and 1980s, and in 1985 became a financial adviser at the Equitable Life Assurance Society of the United States.

"I hired him; I was his manager," Frank A. Donnelly Jr., a longtime friend, said.

Mr. Wall changed careers, he said, "to help people. He helped a lot of people."

And until April, Donnelly said, Mr. Wall continued with the Cherry Hill office of Equitable's successor, AXA Equitable Financial Services.

Mr. Wall was a member of the Society of Financial Service Professionals.

A fourth degree member of the Knights of Columbus, he had worshiped at the Catholic Church of St. Mary in Cherry Hill since 1987, where he was a eucharistic minister.
