Edward G. Carideo Sr., 83, Ford Aerospace executive

Edward G. Carideo Sr., 83, of Cinnaminson, a former director of ethics at the Ford Aerospace unit in Willow Grove, died of complications from Parkinson's disease on Tuesday, Nov. 11, at the Wiley Christian Retirement Community in Marlton.

At one point, Mr. Carideo and several friends established the Martin Luther King Jr. Day Care Center in Camden, son Matthew said.

Born in Philadelphia, Mr. Carideo graduated from St. Thomas More High School there and earned a bachelor's at St. Joseph's University. In the 1950s, his son said, Mr. Carideo "was in the Air Force for several years."

After leaving the military, his son said, Mr. Carideo worked as a contract administrator for Ford Aerospace & Communications Corp. in Willow Grove, before becoming its director of ethics.

"He was an unselfish provider and an artful craftsman," his son said. "He loved woodworking furniture."

Besides his son Matthew, Mr. Carideo is survived by sons Edward G. Jr., Michael, and Daniel; daughters Cynthia Houseman, Elizabeth Lorusso, and Jennifer and Kara Carideo; and 12 grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife of 50 years, Sally.

Viewings and life celebrations were set from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 16, and from 9 to 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 17, both at the Snover/Givnish Funeral Home of Cinnaminson, 1200 Route 130 North, before a 10:30 a.m. Funeral Mass at St. Charles Borromeo Church, 2500 Branch Pike, Cinnaminson. Interment is to be at Lakeview Memorial Cemetery.
