Jonathan P. Naylor, 90, of Merion Station, an architect, died Sunday, Nov. 9, of atherosclerosis at Lankenau Hospital.

A Philadelphia native, Mr. Naylor served in the Marine Corps during World War II and was honorably discharged with the rank of corporal in June 1946. He then joined the Marine Corps Reserve and retired in 1984 as a colonel.

After the war, he worked for Vincent G. Kling & Associates, an architectural firm. He designed buildings in the Philadelphia area, but his assignments extended to places as far away as Saudi Arabia, Jordan, and Tokyo.

Mr. Naylor earned a bachelor's degree in education from Villanova University, then a college, in 1948. He earned a degree in architecture from the University of Pennsylvania in 1954.

He began his career with the Philadelphia architectural firm of Henry D. Dagit & Sons, and stayed there until 1956. He joined the Kling firm as studio head in 1957 and rose to partner.

He was a member of the Pennsylvania Society of Architects and the American Institute of Architects, as well as the institute's Philadelphia chapter.

He was an accomplished artist working in pastels, his family said.

He is survived by two sons, Kendall J. and L. Stephen; three grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. His wife, Wanda Lee McCloughan "Wynn" Naylor, died in 1997. Another son, Jonathan P., Jr., also died earlier.

Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 15, followed by an 11 a.m. funeral at McConaghy Funeral Home, 328 W. Lancaster Ave., Ardmore. Burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Righters Mill Road, Gladwyne.

Donations may be made to Marine Corps Association & Foundation, Box 1775, Quantico, Va. 22134.
