Virginia Inés Albert, 72, formerly of Malvern, a retired court interpreter and accountant, died Saturday, Sept. 20, of cancer at Easton Memorial Hospital near her home in St. Michaels, Md.

Born in Olivos, Argentina, Mrs. Albert was educated at the British School in Buenos Aires, where she learned English as a second language.

At 21, she immigrated to the United States, entering at New York, and she became a naturalized citizen in 1981.

In 1967, she married Charles Barry Albert, a test engineer at GE aerospace facilities in Philadelphia and Valley Forge. The two lived in King of Prussia and later settled in Malvern. In 2005, they retired to St. Michaels.

While living in Pennsylvania, Mrs. Albert worked as a personal accountant. Later, in Maryland, she was employed as a court interpreter in Talbot, Caroline, and Dorchester Counties.

A fan of the outdoors, Mrs. Albert enjoyed sailing, tennis, and gardening. She sailed on the Chesapeake Bay with her family in a series of boats, the last of which was her Bermuda 40 yawl, Esperanza.

Mrs. Albert was a member of the Cruising Sailors of St. Michaels, the Herring Island Sailing Fleet, the Chesapeake Bay Bermuda 40 Association, and the Miles River Yacht Club, where she supported the Veterans and Junior Sail programs.

"She was energetic and lived life to the fullest," said her son, Michael Charles Albert. "She was unfailingly positive."

Mrs. Albert's husband died in 2010. Surviving, in addition to her son, are a daughter, Mariana Inés Albert Lesher; four grandchildren; five nieces; and a sister.

A celebration of life will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 9, at the Miles River Yacht Club, 24750 Yacht Club Rd., St. Michaels, Md. Burial is private.

Donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, Box 22718, Oklahoma City, Okla. 73123.
