Elizabeth Egbert, 69, the president and chief executive of the Staten Island Museum for the last 12 years, died Saturday after battling multiple myeloma, the museum said.

Elizabeth Egbert, 69, the president and chief executive of the Staten Island Museum for the last 12 years, died Saturday after battling multiple myeloma, the museum said.

Ms. Egbert was an artist, sculptor, and community activist. Her work has been exhibited at various museums, including the American Craft Museum and the Socrates Sculpture Park, both in New York City.

Her public art projects have appeared in Fairmount Park in Philadelphia and Mesa, Ariz., among other venues.

She also taught art at Hunter College, the College of the Arts in Philadelphia, and New York University. - AP
