Michael Warehime, 73, the chairman of the Snyder's-Lance Inc. snack-food maker, died Saturday at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore.

Warehime, of Hanover, Pa., became president and chief executive of snack food maker Snyder's of Hanover beginning in 1972.

In 2010, it merged with Lance, based in Charlotte, N.C., to become one of the country's biggest producers of salty snacks.

Snyder's of Hanover started in 1909 as Hanover Canning Company.

Warehime's father, Alan, bought its Hanover plant in 1961.

Warehime is survived by his wife, Tricia, and three daughters. A memorial service will be Wednesday at Trinity United Church of Christ in Hanover.
