Joseph P. Triolo, 86, electrical engineer

Joseph P. Triolo, 86, of Holland, an electrical engineer, died Monday, July 14, of heart failure at Holy Redeemer St. Joseph Manor.

Born in South Philadelphia, he graduated from South Catholic High School in 1945.

He loved to play the saxophone and clarinet, march with the Mummers, and perform with the Philopatrian Theatre Guild, a group that performed at 23d Street and Lehigh Avenue in the 1950s.

He earned a bachelor of science degree in electrical engineering from Villanova University in 1949 and worked for 36 years at the Naval Air Development Center in Johnsville, Bucks County, before retiring in 1984.

While still working, he taught adult night classes in electrical engineering for 16 years at Trenton High School.

Mr. Triolo lived in Holland for more than 50 years. He was a founding parishioner of St. Bede the Venerable Church, where he was a lector, Eucharistic minister, and sacristan. He was a Fourth Degree Knight of Columbus in the Raymond V. Hennessy Council No. 6145.

His hobbies included fine carpentry, vegetable gardening, and telling jokes to anyone who would listen. He was known for his green thumb and kind nature.

"I never heard him raise his voice. He didn't have a mean bone in his body," said his daughter, Tricia E. "If something needed fixing, he would just quietly fix it."

He was married to Patricia Mancini Triolo for 60 years.

In addition to his wife and daughter, he is survived by sons Stephen J. and Ronald J.; a sister; a brother; and two grandsons.

The family will receive visitors on Monday, July 21, at St. Bede the Venerable Church, 1071 Holland Rd., Holland, from 10 a.m. until the Funeral Mass at 11:30 a.m. Interment will follow in Resurrection Cemetery, Bensalem.
