Funeral services have been set for Ginny Doyle, 44, the University of Richmond women's basketball associate head coach killed Friday in a hot-air balloon accident near Doswell, Va.

Coach Doyle and two others died after the balloon struck a power line and caught fire at about 8 p.m. The National Transportation Safety Board was investigating.

At basketball games around the country, players and officials paused in a moment of silence earlier this week to memorialize the tragedy.

Coach Doyle, who was raised in Northeast Philadelphia, graduated from Archbishop Ryan High School in 1987. She was a basketball star in high school and went on to excel at the game as a student at the University of Richmond.

As a senior in 1992, she set an NCAA record by making 66 consecutive free throws. The record was for both men and women.

A life celebration for Coach Doyle will take place from 7 to 10 p.m., Tuesday, May 27, at the John H. Givnish Funeral Home, 10975 Academy Rd., Philadelphia.

On Wednesday, May 28, there will be a period of silent prayer from 10 to 11 a.m., followed by a Funeral Mass from 11 to noon, both at St. Bede the Venerable Roman Catholic Church, 1071 Holland Rd., Southampton.

Interment is private.

Her family has asked that condolences be sent to Ginny Doyle, c/o Raymond Doyle, 40 Ronald Dr., Holland, Pa. 18966.

Donations may be made to the Ginny Doyle Memorial Fund, University of Richmond, 28 Westhampton Way, Robins Center, Richmond, Va. 23173.
