Vincent Canzanese, a lifetime bartender

Vincent Canzanese Jr., 82, of Westville, who with his wife, Donatella, owned the former Vincent's Mansion House in Gloucester City, died of complications from congestive heart disease on Tuesday, March 4, at his home.

The Canzaneses operated the Mansion House, a restaurant and bar, for 15 years in the 1980s and 1990s, on Jersey Avenue near King Street, his wife said.

Born in Camden, Mr. Canzanese graduated from Riverside High School in 1950 and served in the Army.

Mr. Canzanese was "a bartender all his life," his wife said, working for years at Villari's in Palmyra and at the former Schilling's Black Horse Bar & Restaurant in Mount Ephraim.

He was a member of the Gloucester City Chamber of Commerce from 1988 and then the Gloucester City Small Business Association until he retired eight years ago.

Besides his wife, Mr. Canzanese is survived by sons Vincent III and Frank, a sister, two grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.

A visitation was set from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, March 8, at the McCann-Healey Funeral Home, 851 Monmouth St., Gloucester City, during which a funeral service will take place at 1:30 p.m.
