Dominick A. Cipollini, 84, of Yardley, who operated a school bus company for more than 40 years, died Friday, Oct. 19, of heart failure at home.

Mr. Cipollini grew up in Downingtown and attended Downingtown High School until enlisting in the Marine Corps. He served in Hawaii and China.

After his discharge, he drove a taxi in Philadelphia. He then got the idea to start a school bus service for students at St. Timothy's School in Northeast Philadelphia, said his wife, Elizabeth Macho Cipollini.

One bus led to another, she said, and eventually he and an uncle established C & C Transportation in Northeast Philadelphia. The company ultimately operated more than 100 buses and held the bus contract with the School District of Philadelphia. The firm also provided service for high school sports teams.

Mr. Cipollini retired in 2006. He always loved little children, his wife said, and people remembered his having driven them to kindergarten.

He and his wife enjoyed dining at area restaurants and traveling, especially to Italy and Alaska.

Mr. Cipollini was active with the Knights of Columbus, Holmesburg Council. He was a fan of Philadelphia sports teams and the Penn State Nittany Lions.

In addition to his wife of 37 years, he is survived by a son, Dominick Jr.; daughters Denise Davenport, Kim Romano, and Marsha; stepchildren Susan Young, Raymond Bryan, and Michele Eldridge; two sisters; and 10 grandchildren.

Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 23, at Fluehr Funeral Home, 800 Newtown-Richboro Rd. A Funeral Mass will be said at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 24, at St. Anselm Roman Catholic Church, 1267 Dunks Ferry Rd., Philadelphia. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery, Bensalem.

Donations may be made to the Grey Nuns of the Sacred Heart, 1750 Quarry Rd., Yardley, Pa. 19067.
