Norman S. Inazu, 69, of Glenside, a salesman and soccer coach, died of kidney failure Tuesday, Feb. 22, at the Hillcrest Nursing Center in Wyncote.

Since the late 1980s, Mr. Inazu had been a salesman for Fiduk's Industrial Services in Wilmington, a distributor of pneumatic and electric power tools and material-handling equipment. He worked for Fiduk's part time even after becoming ill in 2005, his wife, Marlise Knuetter Inazu, said.

Previously, Mr. Inazu had been coordinator of the department of surgery at Hahnemann University Hospital for 16 years and was then in sales with Byers' Choice in Chalfont, a maker of handcrafted gifts.

A resident of Glenside for 41 years, Mr. Inazu was past president of the Hunter Soccer Club in Glenside, where he coached boys and men's teams for more than 30 years. He had served on the boards of the Eastern Pennsylvania Youth Soccer Association and the Eastern Pennsylvania Soccer Association and remained involved with the soccer club, his wife said.

Mr. Inazu was born in Los Angeles to Japanese American parents. Though his father was born in the United States and was a graduate of UCLA, the family was forced to move to an internment camp in Manzanar, Calif., during World War II. Mr. Inazu, then a baby, was relocated with his parents and two siblings. Two more children were born in the camp.

After the war, the family moved to the East Coast. Mr. Inazu graduated from Palmyra High School and earned a bachelor's degree from Drexel University. He was in ROTC at Drexel and was a member of the Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity.

From 1965 to 1981, he served in the Army on active duty in Korea and in California and in the Army Reserve.

Mr. Inazu was a bird enthusiast who loved to read and grow orchids, his wife said.

In addition to his wife of 41 years, he is survived by a son, Scott; a daughter, Anna; his mother, Lily Inazu; two brothers; a sister; and a grandson.

The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 26, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 120 N. Easton Rd., Glenside. Friends may call from 9 a.m. Mr. Inazu was an active member of the church for 41 years. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery, Roslyn.

Donations may be made to the National Kidney Foundation, 325 Chestnut St., Suite 725, Philadelphia 19106.
