Robinson Hartin, 93, of Broomall, a retired SEPTA safety supervisor, died of heart failure Monday, Jan. 24, at Bryn Mawr Hospital.

Mr. Hartin began his transportation career as a dispatcher for the Red Arrow Philadelphia Suburban Transportation Co. Later, he drove Red Arrow trolleys from 69th Street to West Chester along West Chester Pike, and then drove the route in buses when they replaced trolleys. He remained with Red Arrow after it became part of SEPTA in the late 1960s and retired as a SEPTA safety supervisor in 1980.

Mr. Hartin graduated from Marple Newtown High School. During World War II, he served in the Navy in Virginia and trained as a fireman aboard landing craft.

He was a former lieutenant, chief, and captain with the Broomall Volunteer Fire Company, and a lifelong member of the Marple Township Ambulance Corps. He was a member of Masonic Lodge Community 744 in Broomall.

He and his wife, Lorraine Scudder Hartin, met at Marple Presbyterian Church and married there in 1940. In October, they celebrated their 60th anniversary at the church, where Mr. Hartin was an usher, a deacon, an elder, and a trustee.

He enjoyed golf, winter vacations in Florida, and vacations at the Jersey Shore with his family.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughters Linda Frakes and Patricia Johnson, four grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 29, at Marple Presbyterian Church, 105 N. Sproul Rd., Broomall, Pa. 19008, where friends may call after 9:30.

Memorial donations may be made to the church.
