Peter Francis Storer, a radio, television, and cable-industry leader, 81, has died.
Elizabeth Storer said yesterday that her father died Sunday at his home in Saratoga, Wyo.
Peter Storer was chief executive officer of Storer Communications, a multiple-system cable operator with cable franchises in more than 500 communities in 18 states.
He graduated in 1951 from the University of Miami and began his broadcasting career at WJBK-TV in Detroit, a Storer Broadcasting Co. station owned by his father, George. He also worked for CBS Radio but returned to the family business as sales manager at WJW-TV in Cleveland.
He later became executive vice president of Miami-based Storer Broadcasting and became CEO after his father's death in 1975 and renamed the company Storer Communications. He guided the company until it was bought out in 1986.
Philadelphia's Comcast Corp. bought 50 percent of Storer Communications in 1988.
Survivors include two brothers and four children. - AP
