Miss Braun graduated from Frankford High School. After spending several months visiting relatives in Germany, she went to work in the office of the Sears, Roebuck & Co. building on Roosevelt Boulevard. She was then secretary for a paint manufacturer before joining Container Corp. of America in Manayunk.
By the 1970s, Miss Braun was secretary to the vice president at the company's headquarters in Chicago. In the final years of her career, she was an executive secretary in CCA's accounting department in Valley Forge.
While in Chicago, she took courses at night at Northwestern University, and she later studied at Temple University. For several years, she taught typing and shorthand in Frankford High's evening division.
After retiring in the early 1980s, Miss Braun became involved in public service, and was president of the Women's Club of Frankford and the Frankford Day Nursery. She also served in the Frankford Hospital-Torresdale Campus Auxiliary and was active with the former Matinee Musical Club of Philadelphia, which presented concert series and raised money for student musicians. She liked making the world a better place, her sister Anna Kirch said.
Miss Braun traveled abroad often, including to Thailand, Indonesia, and Japan. She enjoyed spending time with her family at her condominium in Sea Isle City, N.J.
In addition to Kirch, she is survived by another sister, Helen; three nephews; and a niece.
A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. today at St. James Lutheran Church, 5185 Castor Ave. Burial will be in Greenmount Cemetery.
