John O'Quinn | Flamboyant lawyer, 68

John O'Quinn, 68, a flamboyant lawyer who won billions in cases against makers of breast implants, pharmaceuticals, and tobacco products, died yesterday in a Houston traffic accident.

Mr. O'Quinn and his personal assistant, Johnny Cutliff, were killed when police say the sport-utility vehicle he was driving skidded across a rain-slicked parkway and slammed into a tree.

Mr. O'Quinn was known as a Texas-size lawyer (6-foot-4) who spent lavishly on himself, philanthropic causes, and Democratic campaigns.
