Bob King | Hosted performers, 83

Bob King, 83, who owned the King of Clubs nightspot in Swifton, Ark., where Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, and others in the early days of rock-and-roll performed, died Monday.

Mr. King ran the nightclub for more than 50 years, playing host to country, rhythm and blues, and rock acts, including Jerry Lee Lewis, Conway Twitty, and Sonny Burgess, who had five singles with Sun Records. The club is still operating. - AP
